¿Por qué Kate Middleton probablemente nunca será princesa?

Este 29 de abril cumplen nueve años de casados Kate Middleton y el príncipe Guillermo, ambos seguramente lo están celebrando en la más estricta intimidad y junto a sus tres hijos.

Desde entonces Kate o Catalina, adquirió el tratamiento de 'Alteza Real' y el título de 'Duquesa de Cambridge', como regalo de la reina Isabel II. Sin lugar a dudas Kate algún día será la Reina consorte Catalina, pero es probable que jamás deberemos referirnos a ella como 'princesa Catalina', ¿por qué?

On April 29th, 2011, Prince William of Wales married his long-time girlfriend Catherine Middleton in a wedding dubbed the “Wedding of The Century” at Westminster Abbey. Nine years and three years later, I still get chills watching their gorgeous wedding! It was the perfect mix of a state event and a personal wedding. I’ve compiled some of my favorite moments from that glorious day: 1. The moment Catherine Middleton emerged from her car with her nervous father by her side. She looked back and waved at the crowds as she said goodbye to her normal life. 2. The grand entrance! I love specifically William’s entrance and his signature shy smirk as he sees his family. 3. The vows and their sweet nervous smiles at each other. 4. God Save The Queen + the newly Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s bow and curtsy to Her Majesty The Queen. 5. The carriage ride but specifically the moment they thought no one was watching and started holding hands. 6. The iconic balcony moment with two kisses and Kate’s reactions to the huge crowds (around a million people were estimated to be on the streets) 7. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge leaving Buckingham Palace after their first reception. 8. Cuando una joven, sin títulos como Kate, se casa con un príncipe británico esta inmediatamente obtiene los títulos de su marido... literalmente. En pocas palabras la manera correcta de dirigirse a Kate, si no utilizara su título de duquesa, sería el de 'princesa Guillermo'. Pero gracias a que la reina nombró a su esposo duque de Cambridge, conde de Strathearn y lord Carrickfergus el día de su boda, Kate también contrajo estos títulos.

Ahora bien, es cierto que cuando el príncipe Carlos sea Rey, el príncipe Guillermo deberá asumir el título de príncipe de Gales, por lo tanto Kate también. Pero de nuevo, ella no será llamada princesa Kate, dado que la forma correcta de referirse a ella será la de 'Catalina, princesa de Gales'. 

Claro que si Isabel II lo deseara podría hacer a Kate princesa del Reino Unido, como hizo con Alicia, duquesa de Gloucester, que luego de enviudar la reina tuvo el detalle de hacerla princesa. Pero este honor es algo que la monarca reserva para viudas de príncipes dentro de su familia. @mundiario
